The Thames Valley Family Lawyers Society was formed in 1991 as the result of an initiative by the designated care judge at the time, His Honour Judge Kenny.  The aim of the Society was to improve communication of family practitioners in the catchment area of Reading County Court both between themselves and with the judiciary and other local organisations. 

The intention was that the group would provide a focus for practice issues, but it soon became apparent that its functions would extend beyond that to provide training and socialising opportunities. The Society holds regular seminars on all aspects of family law providing an opportunity for family lawyers to keep up to date and share knowledge and discuss local practice issues.  The Society also holds frequent social events, including an annual dinner.

His Honour Judge Kenny has been replaced by His Honour Judge Elly, who is now the Honorary President of the Society.

The purpose of this website is to give information to people who may require the services of a family lawyer, providing details of our members and their areas of expertise.  Members of the Society take a particular interest in enhancing and developing their practice by attending the Society’s various events and sharing their knowledge.
